Eldon Kreider, 43, of Manheim was driving a pickup truck when he was struck by a sedan at the intersection of Hossler and Breneman roads in Rapho Township at 8:42 a.m., the coroner said.
The driver of the sedan "pulled out in front of him at the intersection," a family friend said. Kreider was driving two Amish boys, "that are fine," the friend noted.
The pick-up truck had rolled over during the crash, the coroner explained.
He was pronounced dead at 9:20 a.m., according to the coroner.
His body was taken to the Lancaster County Forensic Center for further investigation, the Coroner’s Office said. An autopsy confirmed the cause of the death was multiple traumatic injuries, and it was ruled an accident.
The area was shut down for an extended period of time.
The police are investigating the crash.
Kreider was a member of White Oak Mennonite Church in Manheim, according to a family friend and the church book of members. He is survived by his wife and numerous children.
Additional details about his life were not immediately available. His church, family, and close friends are invited to send Daily Voice additional information by emailing jpikora@dailyvoice.com.
